  1. sameness is good it tells the elder the special jobs like jonas has that job cant think of it off the top of my head, but those with the same color eyes they can get what ever job they want or try out for.

  2. Sameness is where no one is different. It's good because no one will be different. They wouldn't be ashamed for being different. It's bad because they can't express themselves because they all have to be the same and no one is the same except for in this community. They don't get to express themselves like through their clothes or hair and otys they all get and wear the same thing

  3. Something good sameness creates in the community is since everyone is almost the same they have no problems with each other or arguments. Sameness also creates the good in the community by having all the rules that they do because if they didn't there community would be just like some communities today. Some of the rules in their community are they cant point out other peoples mistakes or differences, you have to tell your dreams every night, you are not aloud to lie, and that you have to earn a certain amount of hours in twelve years for you to earn your assignment. Sameness creates bad things in the community by them all having to do the same things like all of them doing the same jobs to earn their hours like most of them having to bathe the elder because they might not want to do certain things that they have to. It also creates badness in the community by how they cant point out any of anyone's faults or mistakes because maybe someone is wrong and they are teaching some kids, then the kids would be learning something wrong. that is why sameness is good and bad to the community in the book The Giver.

  4. wow everybody's is great!
like Cassidy said sameness is where everybody is the same, NOBODY is different. Its good, how everybody CANT be a bully to others because they are the same!it would be POINTLESS.... but, its bad because if are out in the comuinity and something bad happens you cant point it out or tell them what they did!!! it would be good if "sameness" was in our community so nobody would be bullied or get black mailed because we are the same, yes we have different personalalitys and different styles but we are allhumans and love each other!(:

  5. There are pros and cons to sameness. Sameness would make it easier on the leaders because there shall not be any chaos or loss of order. Sameness would relieve people of stress from just their everyday life. If sameness came upon us, just all of a sudden there would be great confusion among the people and leaders. Sameness would get rid of our 1st Amendment and many others, like our right to bear arms. There is a part in the novel where Jonas is talking to The Giver about colors and wanting to be able to choose between a red tunic or a blue one. That is all i have to say about sameness.

    1. Seth, well written response. I think you made some good points about "sameness" and how it would limit first Amendment rights. We will discuss this very thing in class. Nice job!

  6. I think that "sameness" is good in the community because there is no one different so there for they don't get picked on or made fun of and they are treated equally.
For the bad... Nobody is their own individual person.

  7. sameness is where you only see onr color and nobody can judge you by your color. if you judge somebody by their color they can get hert or feel bad. When you can't tell you cant hert then by thier color. When you do judge somebody they can get deppressed and some might commit suicide.

  8. I think sameness is good because they won't argue. I think sameness is bad because they can't express themselves to be who they want. Paislie S.

  9. Sameness would be bad because no one would be different and life would be boring. But sameness would be good because people will not feel ashamed of themselves for being different. Brandon S.

  10. Most of them are all created the same so they don't have to worry about being different. They don't get to make choices, like what job they want. The Elders make there choices. They also don't have any color. They don't get to have a wife or husband. Andres H.

  11. Sameness would help in a lot of ways, some good and bad. The good is people would be so nice and act leisurely. Nobody would fight or call names. Everyone would be the same and never have to worry about getting bullied or made fun of.
Bad: Most people wouldn't be there own person, if everyone is the same there isn't going to be any unique thing about anybody. Everything would be so dull and nothing would be vague. People love colors and if everything was the same there would have to be no colors. Hailey R.

  12. Some good ways are the community prepares you for adult life. The community gives you gifts. Some bad ways are no colors, no picking what job you want, and no picking your wives and husbands. Edgar R.
